10 Cardinal Rules of Doubles
- Beat your opponent to the net.
- Lob your opponent away from the net.
- Bring out the best in your partner by allowing him/her to play their own side of the court.
- Try to hit most of the balls "on the fly."
- First serve in. "Jam" them with heavy spin so you can get in.
- Take charge instead of hoping your opponents miss.
- Mix up returns to keep the net person "honest."
- Establish your favorite return early.
- The closer player (to the net) has priority on all balls.
- Server and "crash" and chip and charge on important points.
