Percentage Tennis
Like in Las Vegas, you have play the percentage. Here are a few tips on playing Percentage Tennis
STROKE |
DOUBLES PLAY |
|
Groundstroke (forehand / backhand) |
Keep the ball low and with pace. Remember to watch out for the poachers. To keep poachers in check, once in a while hit the ball down the line. |
|
Approach shot |
Hit the ball straight head from where you are, try to hit the ball with pace and deep (one or two feet in front of the back line). Remember who you are playing and try to hit your approach shot to their weaker stroke (forehand or backhand). |
|
Serving |
Get your first serve in consistently. Try for placement rather than for power, especially on critical points. Again, remember who are you playing. |
|
Volleying |
Expect to hit at least two volleys. The first should set up the point (good placement) the second to win the point. Examples of good placement shots are shots that can't be returned or difficult shots like hitting at the feet or body of your opponent. (In competetive tennis, body shots are expecteed, however, in TC, they are discouraged unless you want to risk the wrath of The Prez). |
|
Lob |
Use it as a defensive weapon. Try to hit the ball high and deep (one or two feet in front of the back line). This stroke buys you time to get back into position and keeps your opponent at the back line. |
