Shot Placement
Where should I place my shot?

The locations shown below are general locations that should increase your probability of winning points.

The three triangles are ideal locations for placing your groundstrokes returns. You will note that the triangle in the center is a bit farther back than the other triangles placed near each sideline. It is a high probability that short ground strokes hit to the center of your opponent's court will come back as winners from your opponent. So, make certain that you hit a groundstroke down the center...it is certain to land deep.

For the triangles near the sidelines, try to place the ball at least three to four feet in from both the sideline and the baseline. That should make certain that any shot hit crosscourt or down the line has plenty of margin for error.

The four circles are ideal locations for placing your volley returns. When close to the net, try to place your shot just in front of the service line. Depending on the angle to ball coming toward you should adjust your ball placement. When you are coming in the baseline, try to place your volley deep near the baseline. If you don't you'll pay the price of a passing shot by your opponent.

The asterisks are locations for placing your first serve. Develop your placement control to become more a more effective server.
